PlayStation Plus Integrates with PS Vita in November; Details Inside

During Sony’s TGS Press Conference last night, they confirmed details about the upcoming PlayStation Plus service that’s set to hit the PS Vita in November. According to details from the PlayStation Blog, here are the features you can expect to take effect for PS Plus members on the PS Vita:

  • Instant Game Collection: Unlimited access to a regularly refreshed selection of the full versions of games as long as your membership is active.
  • Discounts: Take advantage of exclusive discounts on games and DLC for your PS Vita.
  • Online Game Storage: An additional 1GB of online storage for game saves for PS Vita games and downloaded content.
  • Automatic Updates: PS Vita will automatically start up at a designated time to download and install select game demos and game updates as well as system software updates and start standby mode upon completion.
  • Automatic Trophy sync: Trophy information will be synched to PSN servers automatically via the PS Vita.

The best part about this is that if you’re already a PS Plus member on the PS3, then this will automatically take effect on your PS Vita at no extra charge. For $50 a year, you’re getting an incredibly robust service for not only one console, but two consoles now.

Rumor: PlayStation Plus Receiving Multiple Tier Subscriptions?

Sony has recently been having surveys filled out toward their optional subscription based service, PlayStation Plus. The survey has people filling out sections pertaining to three different service tiers. The more money invested in the service, the more free games you’ll get, the higher quality titles you’ll receive and possibly even a free subscription to Call of Duty Elite. Depending on the tier level you subscribe to may affect how frequent you’ll receive extra content.

When contacted, this was Sony response:

“We have nothing specific to announce at this time, but PlayStation Plus continues to delight gamers with free games, huge discounts and exclusive gaming features that can’t be found on other platforms.”

Chances are we’ll hear about this multiple tier subscription model at Sony’s E3 Press Conference on June 4th. They announced PlayStation Plus back at 2010’s E3 Conference so it’s not a stretch to imagine the same will happen here.

What do you guys think? Is it a good idea to implement multiple tiers or are you worried that it might affect our current subscription model? Sound off in the comments below!

PS Plus Offers More Great Content in March

PS Plus has further strived to prove as a valuable addition to PSN members and this month is no different. To kick off, Journey will get a week early release for PSN members and retail for $14.99. Journey is from developer “thatgamecompany” and is known for flOw and Flower for the PSN. Their newly anticipated title has garnered much critical praise and should definitely be given a look.

Also on the radar for free games are Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix and Sly Cooper and the Thievius Raccoonus (an excellent game that should not be missed and has an easy platinum for trophy enthusiasts as well). For PS Vita owners, tomorrow will be the release for MotorStorm RC which will be FREE on the Vita. For PS3 owners, you can purchase MotorStorm RC for $9.99 or $7.49 (PS Plus discount) and it contains cross platform play. You will be able to transfer your save data between the PS3 and Vita version, as well as play online with people on either console. For those who purchase the game, you automatically get both versions of the game and they contain their own separate trophy lists (with platinums) that are retroactive with one another. This means that if you get the platinum trophy on the Vita version and then sync it up with the PS3 version, you will actually earn double platinum!

Lastly, the winners of the Gamers’ Choice Awards will be announced tomorrow on PSN. The winners receive a 30% discount (50% discount for Plus members) so stayed tuned for those as well.
