Last week, Glacier928 reported that Walmart was kicking off their pre-orders for the Wii U Deluxe Console. Today, Nintendo announced that Wii U pre-orders at GameStop are officially sold out across North America. In response, GameStop Corporation has decided to create a “waiting list” for those hoping to pre-order the system when it becomes available again. Nintendo president Satoru Iwata stated this week that more than 250,000 gamers have put their names on GameStop’s waitlist for the Wii U Deluxe Console. As most already know, there will be two SKU models available at launch in North America on November 18. There’s the $300 8GB basic model, and a $350 32GB deluxe model that comes in black and includes a copy of Nintendo Land. According to Iwata, the deluxe set is selling more preorders than the base model by a wide margin.
However, there is still hope and most gamers should pay attention to this right now. Across the country, Sears will be offering pre-orders for both the basic and deluxe models of the Wii U. This deal is only valid in stores and not online. Additionally, K-Mart is planning on offering pre-orders within the next two weeks according to an employee I spoke with today. Below are the links to K-Mart’s and Sears’ page where you can give your e-mail or cell phone number to receive a text alert of when it becomes available at K-Mart. Now that’s instant gratification!
