You may recall in a post by Glacier928 back in July that a new, even slimmer PS3 model was in the works. One German retailer has confirmed this to be true.
Reported via a Facebook post, the online retailer claims the new model will be released in October (that’s in just a few weeks, kids) and will come with 12 GB of flash memory. While that is an extremely limited amount of space, especially given the HDD sizes available in today’s models, it boasts much faster read and write speeds than the traditional HDDs available in the system now, which will drastically reduce loading times.
Sony’s German PR chief Guido Alt claims to have known nothing about the new model or its imminent release, but with the Tokyo Game Show coming up soon, and a Sony press conference this Wednesday, it’s very likely we’ll have an official word on the new model soon.
