Nintendo’s Wii U to Take a Stab at Apple’s App Store

Nintendo’s next-gen console, the Wii U, already spun some heads when viewers saw the tablet-style controller back at E3. However, the controller isn’t the only thing Nintendo is utilizing to wow consumers. According to a video interview with The Daily, they have just been told that Nintendo plans to utilize a full fledged app store. While a downloadable network store isn’t new to Nintendo, between the Wii Shop Channel, DSi Shop and eShop, they plan to go above and beyond their previous efforts.

The unnamed Wii U app store is aiming to providing a more extensive variety of applications. Certain apps will run through the Wii U such as MLB.TV, while others will run solely on the unique controller. While not too much else is known about the app store, Nintendo really is opening new doors of opportunity with it’s sleek tablet-style controller and now it’s very exciting app store.

Looking forward to Nintendo’s new console? What kind of apps would you like to see on the Wii U? Sound off in the comments below!

Kinda expected this given how much they cranked into the 3DS. Swapnote anyone?

True but now hearing that it’s confirmed, it’s certainly something to look forward to alongside the sweet controller. Swapnote will surely make it’s way to the Wii U…it’s inevitable. The tablet controller is too perfect for that type of application.
